Stress is a word that has been bounded about for a number of years and the word has increased in usage in recent times. There are various definitions around, however stress means different things to different people. The Health and Safety Executive definition of stress “the adverse reaction a person has to excessive pressure or other types of demand placed upon them.”
The Stress Management Society definition of stress: “a situation where demands on a person exceed that person’s resources or ability to cope”.
Stress is not an illness, in small quantities pressure is good and can motivate you and help you be more productive. However, if stress becomes too excessive and prolonged, stress can interfere with life, health, activities, and can lead to mental and physical illness.
Say NO to Stress Coaching
This programme is tailored to the needs of each individual and will help staff:
• Gain self-understanding and Insight, including identifying stress triggers
• Develop tailor-made coping strategies to manage stressful situations
• Improve their ability to handle pressures and their reactions to them.
The programme includes eight telephone life coaching sessions and a relaxation CD for stress releif.
